1. Many residents were reportedly killed in an explosion that occurred in Potiskum, Yobe State, on Tuesday night. Report says the explosion went off in a highly populated area, close to the Emir’s palace, an indication that casualty figure would be very high.



2. Asari Dokubo, yesterday condemned President Jonathan’s statement which concluded that Nigeria would have been on ‘fire’ if Gen. Buhari was killed in the Kaduna bomb attack. Dokubo said it was unfortunate that Jonathan made such a statement as it was not necessary in the first place. He said Jonathan was wrong to have placed the life of Buhari above over 80 people that were killed in the blast....well he has a point,no life is more important than the other




3. The kidnapped wife of the Vice-Prime Minister of Cameroon, Amadou Ali has been rescued by the Cameroonian soldiers. Report says 18 people were killed during the recue operations that lasted for several hours.



4. The All Progressives Congress has restated its appeal for an international investigation into the attack on Maj. Gen. Muhammad Buhari and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. The party reiterated the call in an Eid-el-Fitr message to Nigerians, as contained in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Kaduna, on Tuesday.




5. Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has again asked the All Progressives Congress, APC to defend its relationship with the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram. Kayode who spoke with journalists in Osogbo said the party was not able to answer him, few months ago, when he accused it of sponsoring the sect.



6. It was a sad Eid el-Fitr for the El-Rufai family as his Son, Hamsa died in an auto-crash in Abuja on Tuesday. El-Rufai announced the incident via his twitter handle.



7. A former military Governor of Kaduna State, Col. Abubakar Umar (retd.), on Tuesday, stated that the federal government’s hands were clean in the recent attack on former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in Kaduna. He said Government couldn’t have plotted the attack, while at the same time beefing up security around the former leader.



8. There is an ongoing controversy between parents of the kidnapped Chibok girls and leaders of the Chibok community in Abuja over an alleged N100m gift given by President Goodluck Jonathan. While speaking with the British Broadcasting Corporation Hausa service, some of the parents have accused the Chibok community leaders of making money out of their trouble.



9. The Imo State chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association has appealed to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to look into the matter surrounding the suspension of 39 of its members from civil service with the view to recalling them. The plea was disclosed in a statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Jane Amucha, after a breakfast meeting the governor had with the state NBA at the Banquet Hall, Imo State Government House, Owerri.



10. Report says the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has queried the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) over the inconsistency in the use of jerseys by its athletes at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland; an official told newsmen in Glasgow, USA.
