Bauchi bombed : 13 killed, 34 injured in blast, shootings in hotel
Suspected Boko Haram members struck again on Friday night, detonating bomb in a popular hotel in Bauchi metropolis, killing no fewer than 13 and injuring 34 persons.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:50 pm, came on the heels of similar attack at Emab Shopping Plaza in Abuja last Wednesday in which 24 people were confirmed dead and 52 injured.
A survivor, Kamilu Ahmed told Sunday Sun that they were in the hotel watching World Cup football match highlights when the bomb exploded.

13-year-old Boy Discovers Massive Bomb near Kano Mosque [See Photos]
According to the police spokesperson in Kano, Magaji Majiya, the young boy became suspicious after noticing the abandoned car looking “heavy with loads.”
Mr. Majiya said:

50 suspected terrorists died during a raid in Borno
The Defence Headquarters said on Friday that more than 50 suspected terrorists died during a raid on a makeshift camp used by terrorists in Miyanti and Bulungu, Borno.
In a statement posted on its Website, the Defence Headquarters said 53 terrorists died in the encounter, while the troops lost two of their men, and five others received injuries.
The statement said that a fuel dump used for storing fuel, vehicles, including Toyota Hilux trucks, and seven motorcycles were destroyed in the raid.
It also said that 15 rifles, 11 machine guns and ammunitions were captured by the troops.

Two secondary students have been struck dead by a lightning bolt in a private boarding school in Shendam, Plateau State.
Student Pulse gathered that a third student, who was critically injured, was immediately rushed to an unnamed hospital.
Reports
quoting the Principal of the school, Mr. Raymond Gofut, said the tragic
incident happened towards evening shortly after a heavy downpour.
The state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Nanle Dashe, confirmed the incident.
The deceased students' bodies have since been been deposited at a local mortuary.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) Mourns Bomb Blast Victims
The Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE says it is unhappy over the loss of one of its member, Mr Suleiman Bisalla, in the shopping mall bombing in Abuja on Wednesday.
Mr Bisalla, who died alongside 20 other persons, was the Managing Editor (North) of New Telegraph Newspapers.
In a statement released on Thursday, the NGE condoled with the Bisalla family and the families of all the other victims of the incident, saying: “we can’t but ask: where and who is next? Nigeria, very sadly, has become one huge sepulchre where death is now very cheap.”
President of the NGE, Mr. Femi Adesina said in the statement that “unnatural deaths have become so commonplace, that Nigerians are almost becoming inured to the news of it, except those directly affected. This is not good for our common humanity,” he stated.

New Telegraph’s Managing Editor dies in Emab Plaza bomb blast
Bisalla, 46, a native of Gindiri in Mangul LGA of Plateau State, had left the New Telegraph office in Abuja around 3.30pm to Emab Plaza to go and repair his phone. The bomb went off 30 minutes later.
His corpse was deposited at the Maitama General Hospital, where he and others killed in the blast were taken to. His younger brother, Mohammed, has confirmed his death.
Bisalla was a former Deputy Editor with the Daily Trust Newspaper in Abuja and joined the New Telegraph newspaper late last year. He was married with children. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.
