Government Should Be Blamed For The Abduction Of Over 200 School Girls By Boko Haram--- NLC

 

The Vice-President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Isa Aremu has said the government should be blamed for the abduction of over 200 school girls by Boko Haram and also the terrorism menace plaguing the nation.

Aremu who spoke with newsmen yesterday, May 25 in Ilorin shortly after the eight day fidau for late Serikinfawa of Ilorin, Alhaji Ahmadu Amosa Tuba, said after Almighty God, the only institution that is meant to protect citizens worldwide is government, therefore the challenge of insecurity in Nigeria can only be solved by the government.

"We don’t know the killers but we know those we elected to protect us. It is they who must make sure schools are secured for uninterrupted learning. It is the federal government in collaboration with the states and local governments that would make sure pupils are secure in schools and teachers are protected," he said.

Expressing solidarity with members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) who protested last week against the abduction of Chibok Secondary school girls and the killing of 173 teachers by insurgents, Aremu criticised statement credited to the representative of President Goodluck Jonathan, asking the 'bringbackourgirls' protesters in Abuja to direct their protest to the abductors.

The Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang while visiting the Jos blast scene, had attacked the protesters in Abuja telling them to direct their protest to the abductors and the president.

Aremu therefore called on the government to act fast because the current insecurity challenges the nation is facing poses great danger to governance.

Its been over a month since over 200 girls were abducted from their school in Chibok community, Borno by the Boko Haram terrorist group. Activists have continued to protest, asking for the release of the girls.

As the government is working in collaboration with foreign experts to secure the release of the girls, Boko Haram is still wrecking havoc.

Last week, there were bomb explosions in Jos, villages were attacked in Borno and Adamawa states.
