Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Deziani Alison-Madueke,
has been elected the President of the Organisation of Petroleum
Exporting Countries.
Alison-Madueke is the first female president of OPEC.
This does not come as a surprise as the organisation is dominated by Muslim Arab nations.
Alison-Madueke was elected on Thursday at the 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.
She replaces Libya’s Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish, who held forth till she emerged.
She was before her election the alternate president of OPEC.
Her tenure will be for one year.Congrats madam...
