33-year-old Hu Chen was said to have flung her children in the street after a disagreement with her husband.
Daily Mail reports:
Police say the woman, 33, wanted revenge on her husband after they were involved in a huge row minutes earlier in the city of Cixi in east China’s Zhejiang province.
Eye witness Li Peng told local TV: ‘She picked up one and threw her into the traffic, then grabbed the other and did the same.
‘It was heart stopping, I can’t stop thinking about it.’
The distraught trucker who ran over the baby girl, named by police as 43-year-old Yul Tsui, climbed down from his rig and knelt down in prayer in front of the dead toddler.
‘He was crying’ said Li Peng, adding: ‘He could not have stopped in time.
The woman just hurled the baby into his path without a word of warning. There was simply no time for him to slow down.’
The six-year-old escaped with cuts and a broken arm.
The woman had reportedly been furious after the row with her husband Hu Hsia, 35, and then ‘vented out her anger’ as revenge.
She will almost certainly face the death penalty if found guilty. Her husband is under sedation in a local hospital.
