From father-in-law to son-in-law. That was the summary of the governorship race in the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, east of Nigeria. Chief Uche Nwosu, Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law was picked as the consensus candidate at a congress that took place Tuesday morning at the International Conference Centre, Owerri.
Nwosu is the state commissioner for Lands and Urban Development.
An online report said the election was a mere joke as the candidate was meant to hold the ticket in custody for Chief Okorocha if he fails to clinch the APC presidential ticket.
Okorocha is among the five APC bug guns who want to be selected as the torch bearer of the party in the February election.
The election will take place in Lagos today. Okorocha is spending his first term in office as governor of Imo state.

Speaking with journalists in Owerri, the state chairman of the party, Dr. Hilary Eke said the party decided to give its ticket to whoever it thinks that could win elections.
