Several insurgents attacked a divisional police station around the new market on Wednesday at Sunmaila Local Government Area of Kano State, causing the inhabitants to scamper for safety.
A reliable source in the area
stated that there was sporadic shooting by the insurgents, which lasted for some minutes, that caused panic among the people of the area.
It was learnt that the gang of insurgents stormed the area on motorbikes and attacked the Sumaila police station, near the market.
Commenting on the incident, the image maker of the state police command, Magaji Majiya, said that "the attack was successfully repelled as the policemen on duty engaged them in exchange of fire for about 15 minutes before they fled."
However, Majiya stated that no life was lost among members of the community or the police, nor was any injury sustained by anybody during the incident.
He added that the command was on top of the situation, with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
He also diclosed that normalcy had already been restored to the area,and that people had commenced normal activities.
He stated further that the imposition of the ban became imperative, in order to curtail the access of unauthorised persons into the boarding secondary schools in the state, as such persons often caused damage to school facilities, apart from other anti-social behaviours exhibited by them.
