US Changes Visa Application Process For Non-immigrants

US Changes Visa Application Process For Non-immigrants

The United States has disclosed new changes in its non-immigrant visa application.
Stacie Hankins, the Consular Chief, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja with effect from November 8, 2014.
The document and distribution partnership added a new location in Port Harcourt, while applicants can now collect their visas from any of the three locations Abuja, Lagos or Port Harcourt.
Applicants, who have met the requirements for the drop box renewal, can also submit their passports and applications to the DHL collection centre in Port Harcourt.
According to her, the processing time for Port Harcourt will take one extra day as against that of Abuja and Lagos, which usually takes two days.
She, however, stated that the embassy, in its bid to make application processing faster and efficient, all potential non-immigrant visa applicants must henceforth include the correct confirmation number from their DS-160 online application form as part of the required information to schedule interview.
With effect from December 1, 2014, applicants who fail to carry out this new instruction will not be allowed to face interview, she added.

Hankins stated that between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013, the embassy in Abuja and the Lagos Consulate received more than 180,000 non-immigrant applications most of which were approved. Also between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014 the embassy received over 220,000 applications of which over 65 per cent were approved.
